Bockfest Hall

Hall open from Friday, March 2, 2012 at 5PM to Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 7PM

Bockfest Hall is the center of the weekend's activities. It opens Friday March 2, 2012 at 5PM as the Bockfest Parade is beginning to form on 8th Street. The Hall is located at the Christian Moerlein Brewing Company Event Hall at 1619 Moore Street. The Parade ends at the Hall, where the the weekend's festivities get started with the official blessing of the beer and awarding of the best parade entry. Throughout the weekend, the hall features live music, bock beer and food. On Saturday, the Hall hosts the Bloatarian Brewing League's bock home brew competition, historic steins and breweriana, authors, exhibitions as noted below, and is the starting point for the Prohibition Resistance Tours and Church Tours. In addition to live music, Saturday evening includes the final round of Sausage Queen competitions and the crowning of Bockfest Royalty 2012. Continental Sunday is family-friendly entertainment that celebrates Sundays in Over-the-Rhine in the 1800s. The day features a variety of authentic German entertainment provided by participating German-American societies, German food, and beer specials. Sunday also brings the return of the steins, breweriana, authors, exhibitions, and tours.

Great food by Mecklenberg Gardens will be available all weekend.

The Hall is cash only. Please plan accordingly.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Bockfest Hall Tap Room will be host to a variety of history and culture. Beer steins and local brewery and historical items will be on display and also available for sale. Members of Thoroughbred Stein Verein can advise you on beer steins and mugs as well as offer free appraisals. Over 150 antique and collectible beer steins will be offered for sale, including many authentic German brewery mugs. Cincinnati and local brewery memorabilia will also be available for sale. Please bring in your treasures as the stein and brewery collectors will be available to answer your questions on beer steins and Cincinnati's brewery history and memorabilia. You can also bring your items in for consignment for the Stein & Breweriana Auction later that month.

Local authors will be available to sign and speak about their books, including Michael Morgan (Over-the-Rhine: When Beer was King), Don Heinrich Tolzmann (Over-the-Rhine Tour Guide), and Dann Woellert (Cincinnati Turner Societies: The Cradle of an American Movement). Producers of the Cincinnati Beer Story will also be on hand with a preview of the upcoming documentary.

All events at Bockfest Hall (except for tours) are free and open to the public.
